From April 24th to the 2nd of May, Cáceres will hold it's 30th annual International Sport Fishing Festival. The event is centered around a small boat team fishing competition on the last day Sunday, May 2nd. The teams are made up of two to three anglers and there are men's and women's divisions. The day before, there is a childern's fishing competition from the riverbank. The Sunday of the opening weekend, April 25th, there is a more traditional fishing competition from canoes. There are canoe and kayak races scheduled as well. Prizes for the competitions range from trophies to expensive boats and outboard motors.
There will be a Nautical Fair and food and beverage stands in the SEMATUR Praça do Eventos; sporting events on the Praia Daveron; informative enviromental and Artisanal displays in the Praça Barão do Rio Branco. Every night the main stage in the Praça do Eventos will host Traditional Presentations, Local Bands and Brazilian National Headline Acts. For Free!!! This year the shows include Daniela Mercury, Calcinha Preta, Skank, Zé Ramalho and Henrique, Claudinho and Pescuma
